China’s Posts Trade Surplus of $20 Billion in August
A surprisingly large surge in imports reduced China’s trade surplus in August, government data showed on Friday, but at just above $20 billion the surplus was still high enough to remain as a bone of contention in relations with the United States, which has argued that China has an unfair trade advantage because of a weak renminbi.
In June, China promised to allow more flexibility in the exchange rate with the U.S. dollar, but the rise in the renminbi so far has been minimal. READ MORE »
